A Prayer for peace and attentiveness

Lord God, I pray for my heart and mind to rest in peace . Help me to trust with the things I can't see and can't control. Forgive me for not paying attention to your words, not listening to your voice, not waiting in the quiet place for you. You say that if I pay attention to your commands, your peace will flow like a river over me. Your righteousness will wash over me without end. And you tell me that I will never find peace without your righteousness . I cannot give over my thoughts and emotions to the enemy's lies and feel comfort in your arms or hear your words of blessing. I will hear the noise instead. I will feel the anxiety that chaos brings. And I will think you've forgotten about me or can't protect me. Lord, protect me from this dangerous path toward unbelief ! If I want peace, I only need to crave righteous living. In Jesus' name, Amen. Isaiah 48:18, 22 "If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a rive

Help me obey your call: a prayer to establish harmony with God's spirit

Oh, Lord,  I'm scared. I have anxiety and dread all the time, and I think it's from not obeying your call on my life-- not doing the things you've told me to do or loving the people you've told me to love. I'm afraid to follow you  because I don't know what will happen to me when I do and because I've been hurt by people so many times when I did. I have reasonable  excuses  for hesitating: I'm not good enough, not talented enough, not lucky enough, not spiritual enough. I'm too busy, too stressed too unprepared. I need to heal, to find myself, to get into a safe space. Yet the longing and the frustration in my spirit persists. That tells me I'm not living in harmony with your calling and with the Spirit of God living inside of me. You say I am enough-- in you I am always enough. You can do anything, through anyone, and you just want me to trust you with my life. I confess my pride and self-reliance to you. Steady my heart and clear my mind. H

Raise up a generation; change a generation

Lord, God of heaven,  Raise up a generation who speaks of your glorious acts, who tells of your mighty power, who proclaims your mighty deeds, who defies the enemies of truth, who wages war against their own human natures, and who loves their neighbors like you love us. Change a generation to commend your works to the young, who models righteous living, who defends the fatherless and the widow, who walks in the law of the Lord, who promotes the welfare of the young, who plows the path for them and sets them up to succeed. Then we will glorify your name in all the earth! The lost will see you through us and seek your face. You are good and gracious to all. You are compassionate to all you have made  You are patient with us who fail. All you have made will praise you; we will tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak your might. Your kingdom is everlasting. You are faithful and loving toward us. In Jesus' name, Amen. Psalm 145 Related Prayers: A prayer for youth group A prayer for

Hallelujah! I needed some joy today in my outlook, so I scrolled through Spotify and found The Messiah done by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir . Then I searched YouTube and found a ton of videos. This production is more than a Christmas program. It's glory come down to earth. I listened, and The Messiah lifted my spirits. Of course, when I got to the "Hallelujah Chorus," I started to cry.  That's what happens to me when the Holy Spirit falls on me. I cry. Tears of joy , gratefulness, humility, conviction, calling . All the things that remind me who I am and who God is. How great and mighty God is! Take a listen to this song and pray a little prayer of praise .  (I picked their latest world-encompassing virtual version. How cool is that?) We belong to a victorious God! Lord God, You are Wonderful! You're a Mighty God, an Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace ! You are not swayed by the chaos of this world or worried about the choices I made in my life. You lead me

Help! A prayer for perspective

Help! I need a prayer for perspective. Lord God, Help me to hope in you, not control things around me. Help me to trust you, not to compare my life to everyone around me. Help me to forgive , not resent and judge those who've hurt me. Help me to give, not hoard your favor, your redemption your grace, your gifting, or your provisions. Lord, help me. I am weak , but in you I can be strong . In Jesus' name, Amen. "That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in  weak nesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am  weak , then I am  strong ."  ( 2 Corinthians 12:10 ) "We are glad whenever we are  weak  but you are  strong ; and our prayer is that you may be fully restored." ( 2 Corinthians 13:9 )
